By adding 2.8-inch-wide, plus-size tires to our Level Link suspension, we've created a bike that absolutely rips on tight trails, but does so with the extra grip and control of a plus-size bike. Voilà—adventure made awesome. We gave the Catch a slack-but-not-too-slack front end. We wanted control on fast descents, but we weren't willing to give up maneuverability on tight trails. The Release 29 1 is a big-wheeled ripper made for long days and big lines. This aluminum 29er is built on the same 130mm-travel Level Link suspension platform as its smaller-wheeled siblings. We've adjusted the geometry for 29-inch wheels while keeping the same playful attitude of all our Level Link bikes. An SR Suntour Aion suspension fork and a Suntour Edge R rear shock soak up the rough stuff, while SRAM SX Eagle drivetrain components keep you cranking. What this means for you is a 166mm bike that feels like 200mm. An extra 5 millimetres never made such a difference. Soft and plush is all good, but anyone who's been halfway through a rowdy, rock-strewn chute knows the value of stiffness too. The Wreckoning utilizes 157 Super Boost, the new standard of rear axle spacing for any rider who takes shred seriously. Add in the unified rear triangle and you're ensured a firm AF frame when the going gets capital “G” good gawd gnarly. The trunnion mount shock and Advanced Forged Composite rocker arm combine for a longer stroke that has a smooth, active feel, plus greater stiffness in the chassis for precision control. The rear suspension is paired with a 150mm travel fork, providing superior confidence and control on technical singletrack. Adjustable trail geometry A three-position Maestro flip chip lets riders dial in frame geometry for their riding style and terrain. The high setting adds more ground clearance, a good option for tight, technical terrain. In the low setting, the head tube gets slacker and the bottom bracket drops, ideal for confident handling at higher speeds. The middle position is neutral. In addition, a new headset flip chip adjusts reach so that riders can easily achieve their preferred positioning. Rear wheel options All models come with 29-inch front and rear wheels, but the flip chip lets you opt for a mixed wheel setup including a 27.5 rear. The stock 29-inch rear wheel optimizes stability and roll-over capabilities, while a 27.5 delivers a more agile, snappier feel and more saddle-to-tire clearance in the rear. Some riders favor this “mullet” setup for riding steep, technical terrain.
